Marcel Peyrard was a French prisoner of war who was captured by the Nazis in 1940 and sent to the POW camp in G\u00f6rlitz. In 1941, he managed to leave the camp due to illness and the Wehrmacht’s attempt to prevent an epidemic outbreak. After a six-month stay in hospital and his recovery, Marcel Peyrard was released and could return to his family.<\/p>\n
Didier Peyrard brought back a distinctly personal item from his father, which has been in Stalag VIII A more than seven decades ago already. Didier Peyrard’s travel suitcase accompanied him during his imprisonment, illness, liberation and beyond. Now, his suitcase will soon be added to our exhibition.<\/p>\n
