What did forced labour mean during the times of National Socialism? Where did the men and women forced to work come from? How many of them where there? Where were the factories they had to work in located and where were they accommodated?<\/p>\n
During World War II nobody in G\u00f6rlitz would have needed a map on the topic of forced labour. The location of the factories, huts, workshops, backrooms and confiscated taverns were no secret. On their way to the factories the guarded labourers had to cross all the city\u00b4s districts. Forced labour was not unusual. A lot of small factories in the neighbourhood had one or two forced labourers \u2013 and this was commonly known. Since then, a lot of this knowledge was lost, overlaid or intentionally repressed.<\/p>\n
We want to revisit the places of forced labour in G\u00f6rlitz, take pictures, collect more information and make it public via geocaching.com. The participant\u00b4s of the project will upload all the information you need to find the places, teh information and the hidden caches on site.<\/p>\n
